Teaching Assistant Program

Our Teaching Assistant Program strives to provide outstanding training to aspiring dance teachers. For students in the Intermediate and Senior Division at Vision Dance Academy who enjoy working with young people, the Teaching Assistant Program provides an opportunity to begin learning skills that will be the foundation of their teaching knowledge. Students will learn about different ways that children learn, how to conduct a fun and positive class, and most importantly how to begin training injury-free dancers. All Teaching Assistants will be given the opportunity to conduct a class with teacher supervision in order to receive an assessment of their skills.

Students interested in applying for a volunteer teaching assistant position must complete an application form no later than July 1, 2010. Acceptance into the program is based on a review of their application by the faculty. Overall attitude, attendance and technique will all be taken into consideration.

As part of the program, Teaching Assistants are required to attend an orientation meeting prior to the commencement of the dance year. Participation in the program may also offer students the opportunity to acquire community involvement hours necessary for the completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

At Vision Dance Academy, we are very passionate about passing along our knowledge of injury prevention in training dancers. We aim to share this knowledge with aspiring students, in the hopes that the next generation of dance educators will all be able to confidently train injury-free dancers!
